Torres Strait Tropical Rock Lobster Fishery Moon-tide Hookah Closures for 2015

The PZJA has agreed to reintroduce moon-tide hookah closures for the Torres Strait Tropical Rock Lobster Fishery for the remainder of the 2015 season (closures calendar featured below). All licence holders have been sent a letter outlining the closures and a copy of the closures calendar.

The first closure period commences on 15 May. Licence holders are reminded that it is an offence under section 44 of the Torres Strait Fisheries Act 1985 to fish in the Tropical Rock Lobster Fishery using hookah gear during the closure periods.

 The calendar shows the dates of hte moon-tide hookah closures for July to December 2015. The closures are in place for three days before and after the new or full moons depending on the month. Contact the AFMA office on 07 4069 1990 for more details of the closures.
