Tropical Rock Lobster (Kaiar) fishing season now closed

The Protected Zone Joint Authority (PZJA) is notifying commercial fishers that the Torres Strait Tropical Rock Lobster (Kaiar) fishery closed on Monday, 30 September 2024.

Commercial fishers are reminded that no commercial fishing is permitted after this date.

All catch must be landed to a licenced fish receiver and the catch reported to the Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA) within 3 days of landing.

The Torres Strait Tropical Rock Lobster (Kaiar) fishery will remain closed from Tuesday 1 October – Saturday 30 November 2024, in accordance with the management arrangements for the fishery.
